Couples in love, not in crisis.
This is not couples therapy and not a rescue. It is a structure for couples who are already connected and want to go further. Readiness is the only prerequisite.
The Retreat
What this is
Five days of somatic bodywork, massage, touch practice, tantric rituals, meditations and embodied practices at Rose Mountain in the south of Portugal. A deep immersion into practices that connect you with your life force, your pleasure and your truth. We're gradually building up the bodywork and involve your whole body. This is not a holiday - this is a deeply held, embodied experience into real intimacy.
The work is rooted in The Gaia Method - a body-based practice developed over thirty years by Susanne Roursgaard - and grounded in the Wheel of Consent, which forms the foundation of every session. The programme includes tantric massage techniques and works with the whole body, building gradually over the five days.
Two guides work with you throughout: Johannes, based between Berlin and Amsterdam, and Ilona, based in the Algarve. They are trained professional colleagues, not a couple. When they demonstrate together, what you witness is somatic intelligence without a relationship dynamic. This is one of the things that makes this format work.
The retreat is for couples in readiness - not in crisis. The relationship is good. Something has not yet opened that is already there.
Vision
A world where couples understand that intimacy lives in the body - not in the mind's stories. Where the depth of a relationship is measured by how fully you can feel each other.
Mission
Rewire Intimacy exists to support couples access a layer of connection they haven't reached yet. It often begins with one person - a quiet knowing there is more to explore. Naming that knowing inside the relationship is where the work begins. Becoming aware of what runs between you, together, is a core pillar of the Rewire Intimacy process.
To tune in together
We use somatic and holistic bodywork, combining soft touch de-armouring, breath, sound, energy and cognitive therapy rooted in The Gaia Method merged with Tantra and Shamanism - to create conditions for transformation that words cannot reach.
The core shift
There is more to discover.
That feeling is the door.
Most couples retreats speak to people in crisis. Something is broken. Rewire Intimacy speaks to the couples who sense that, underneath the good life they've built, there is a layer of intimacy they haven't fully touched yet. They love each other. The relationship is good. There is more to discover.
Rewiring is not about doing touch differently.
It's about being more honest in contact.
Why this retreat
This is not couples therapy and not a rescue. It is a structure for couples who are already connected and want to go further. Readiness is the only prerequisite.
The work happens in the body. You will learn effortless touch - and explore the power of sound, breath and movement. The body carries patterns that conversation cannot reach. This is how we work with them.
Ilona and Johannes are skilled professional colleagues. When they demonstrate together, you witness two practitioners fully present to the work - each with a distinct somatic intelligence, without a shared relationship dynamic between them.
The work starts on day one and builds through the week - from the back of the body, through the heart and upper body, to the full body on day four. You'll learn effortless touch and explore new ways to connect and for lovemaking. One afternoon workshop cannot reach that.
A private estate in the south of Portugal. Olive groves, a pool, a temple space designed for this kind of work. The quality of light and the silence do something to the nervous system before the sessions begin.
Both guides are certified in The Gaia Method - developed over thirty years by Susanne Roursgaard. During the retreat we work with soft-touch de-armouring, somatic bodywork, tantric massage, breath, sound, and somatic therapy. Instead of breaking through armour with force, the body is invited to open. The practices are always within each couple. There is no shared touch between couples. You work only with yourself and your own partner.
Six things. None of them common. All of them real.
A day at the retreat
The bodywork and massage build gradually across the five days. We begin softly and involve more of the body as trust settles, until the work involves the whole body. No two days are the same - but every day breathes the same way.
This is not a holiday - we work here. One evening is free and we have a sauna.

"My partner and I were longing for a next step in our intimacy. We worked with a coach, but to spend more days in a row to really connect with myself and her through the bodywork was just beautiful. The different ways of touch were new for me and I liked the diversity of the exercises and tools in the program. The support of the facilitators is very profound. There's more understanding regarding our personal preferences and needs to get closer - and we have tools to connect and communicate while being different at the same time."

"After 17 years together, my husband and I felt something was missing. Half of our relationship was practically dormant, and we both knew there was more to it. The retreat opened a huge door for me. Through the Wheel of Consent, we explored each other's boundaries. I was able to release a generational fear I carried about men - this major blockage no longer stands between us. I dare to give space to my own desires. I'm more detached from my husband, and therefore more connected."

"I've had individual sessions with Ilona and a 5-day intensive with my partner. Since the intensive I feel more connected with myself and my body again. I can absolutely recommend their work."

Questions answered
The retreat is about intimacy - not about sex. The practices are somatic: body-based, present-focused, and structured around consent. Day four includes demonstrations and practice of genital massage within each couple. This is part of a complete, trauma-informed bodywork methodology - not performance, and not erotica. Participants consistently describe the clarity of the framework as the thing that makes it feel safe rather than exposed.
Yes. There will be nudity in the room during bodywork sessions. Ilona and Johannes demonstrate everything before you practice. You work only with your own partner. There is no shared touch between couples at any point in the retreat.
Couples who are curious to explore new ways of intimacy and lovemaking, where there is no acute crisis, and where both can commit to five full days of practice and working with the body to deepen their intimacy.
This is the most common situation couples arrive in. One partner usually senses there is more available before the other does. The format is built to work with exactly this - not to require both partners to arrive at the same level of readiness. The intake call is partly for this question.
The retreat uses The Gaia Method, Tantric massage and The Wheel of Consent - frameworks that support more conscious, present and effortless touch.
Therapy works with the mind. This works with the body. The body holds patterns that insight alone cannot shift. Couples who have done significant personal work often come here specifically because they have reached the edge of what talking can do.
We'll work with the whole body and build up the bodywork and massage gradually. There will be nudity in the room. Ilona and Johannes will demonstrate everything and then guide you through practices and massage sessions. The practices are always within each couple. There is no shared touch between couples. You'll only work with yourself and your own partner.
Yes. Every place begins with a 30-minute intake call with Ilona & Johannes. The intake call is not a sales call - it is an honest conversation to see if the retreat fits where you are as a couple.
